This database is maintained by the Earth Sciences Directorate (Code 900), NASA Goddard Space Flight Center located in Greenbelt, Maryland, USA. The source of the Natural Disaster Reference Database (NDRD) is located at the Goddard Space Flight Center and at a mirror web site located at the National Research Institute for Earth Sciences and Disaster Prevention (NIED) located in Tsukuba, Ibaraki, Japan. Development of this database was the joint responsibility of these organizations under the Japan-United States Science and Technology Agreement (JUST).
