Steve Ackerman to Retire in September
August 3, 2023Steve Ackerman, AOS professor and UW–Madison vice chancellor for research and graduate education, is retiring on September 15. Since his arrival on campus in 1987, Steve has held a number of leadership roles, including associate vice chancellor of research in the physical sciences, interim director of the Space Science and Engineering Center (SSEC), and director of the Cooperative Institute for Meteorological Satellite Studies (CIMSS). He has been a pillar of the AOSS and extended research and campus communities, and the department thanks him for his contributions and lasting impact.
